It’s raining and it’s pouring – but it did not stop the ladies from getting wet and coming to Yarn Alive today! It was great to see them. Many of them even wore the gorgeous flowers they they made in the first class. This week they are learning how to make ruffle scarves! Can’t wait to see all their beautiful scarves in 2 weeks!
Sakura (Cherry Blossom) is richly symbolic in Japan. Hanami festivals celebrate the beauty of the cherry blossom and for many, are a chance to relax and enjoy the beautiful view. This involves the centuries’ old practice of picnicking under a blooming sakura or ume (plum) tree.

Yarn Alive finally commenced today. Due to Japanese holidays this month, we have not had a chance to meet until today – but the wait was worth it!
Today’s class was all about “Ruffle” yarn and making fun, crazy, twirly, ruffle scarves out of it. The yarn is 100% acrylic with a net type of material. Each yarn company that sells this kind of yarn calls it a different thing, but basically it is called “ruffle yarn”.
